Ian Hargreaves

Ian Hargreaves is Professor of Digital Economy at Cardiff University.  As author of a major review of intellectual property law in 2011 and co-author of Nesta’s Manifesto for the Creative Economy (2013) he is a leading voice in discussions about the creative economy of the UK and Europe. He recently led a major research project on creative citizenship; a book, The Creative Citizen Unbound, is due out next year.  He is a Co-Director of REACT, the Bristol-based knowledge exchange hub.  Prior to taking up his current academic role in 2010, Ian’s career was mostly in journalism. He was Deputy Editor of the FT, Editor of the Independent, Editor of the New Statesman and Director of BBC News and Current Affairs.  He serves on a number of boards, including National Theatre Wales, the Alacrity Foundation and Centre Forum.
